Liverpool FC Closing in on Agreement to Sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus

Liverpool have made travel arrangements for the Italy international to fly to Liverpool in order to complete the move. He will undergo a medical in Merseyside with personal terms in place on a four-year contract at Anfield.

Liverpool are set to pay their Serie A counterparts a fee in the region of €13million (£10.9m), although the two clubs are yet to reach a full agreement. If everything goes well, Chiesa will become Liverpool’s first summer signing under new head coach Arne Slot.

The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Liverpool were working to complete the signing of Chiesa before the transfer market shuts.

News emerged on Monday that the Anfield club were exploring a deal for the Juventus forward with his terms expire in 2025. Having admired Chiesa for a number of years, Liverpool decided to capitalise on the situation and are discussing a possible four-year contract.

Chiesa, along with several first-team players, has been excluded from Thiago Motta’s Juventus squad. He initially joined Juventus on loan from Fiorentina in 2020, with the move becoming permanent for €50m (now £42.3m; $55.8m).

Last season, under former head coach Massimiliano Allegri, Chiesa was a key player for Juventus, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. The 2023-24 campaign marked his first full season since recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in January 2022, which sidelined him for around nine months.

Chiesa was a standout performer for Italy during their victorious European Championship campaign in 2021 and also played in the 2024 edition, where Italy was eliminated in the last 16.

Since moving to Turin, Chiesa has netted 32 goals in 131 matches for Juventus, after scoring 34 times in 154 appearances for Fiorentina.
